How to choose the best Air Tube and Air Stone for BIOFloc Tank?

Air Stones with microbubbles or nanobubbles are more preferable because very small micro air bubbles are easily diffused with water and raise water oxygen levels.

Air Stones producing big air bubbles get wasted by almost 70-80%. The distance travell from the tank button to the upper surface water is about 3ft and takes a few seconds to reach. Due to which large or big size oxygen bubble gets wasted.

Microbubbles or Nanobubbles producing Air Stones are more preferable for a BIOFloc System. We need more than 4 dissolved oxygen in the water.

Getting good Air Pumps won’t help to maintain a good dissolved oxygen level in the water unless proper air stones are installed.

Microbubble and Nanobubble producing air stones are more costly compared to generic air stones. The smaller the bubble size the better the dissolved oxygen levels in the water.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Most of the commercial BIOFloc Fish Farming people use these kinds of air stones. Even in my BIOFloc Farm, I am using these air stones, the porous is very fine and releases micro air bubbles. The cylindrical air stones are more preferred over the rounded shaped air stones.

As per my experience, the cylindrical air stones produces more air bubbles compared to rounded shaped ones.

The durability and Maintainance of both the air stones are good. Every month you need to wash each air stones with a brush to ensure the porous is not blocked.

The air stones come with two variations i.e. steel and plastic connectors. Steal connectors are a little bit costly over the plastic connectors.

But the performance and durability of both the products are overall the same.
